Eastern Cape Hellenic Youth Association
HOME / Eastern Cape Hellenic Youth Association
ECHYA (The Eastern Cape Hellenic Youth Association) is based in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), Eastern Cape. Nestled in the friendly city of PE, this family-orientated community formed in 1936 may not be as large as its fellow inland and coastal communities.
But, what it lacks in size, it makes up for in heart. ECHYA is strongly associated with NAHYSOSA, as well as with the Hellenic Community of Port Elizabeth, wherein their main goal is to keep Hellenic pride, religion, and traditions alive for many years to come. The youth strive to bring all Hellenes, within the Eastern Cape, together to create a family that will last forever, regardless of distance apart and time passed. This innate feeling of family does not merely encapsulate our Eastern Cape region, but also extends to our broader NAHYSOSA family on a national scale. Friendship, family, passion, and dedication are the values all ECHYA members hold to the highest regard. Culture is nothing without those who make something of it, and ECHYA excels in growing each and every one of its committee and community members through the concepts underlying filotimo which unite us all.
